Best Hosting with Email Accounts (Free & Paid)
The best web hosting companies will add an email account to your hosting plan for free. Some offer unlimited email accounts, others will change the amount depending on the web hosting you choose, and some types of hosting plans, like the do-it-yourself VPS hosting, don’t always have email addresses included. You’ll need separate email hosting for these.
Web hosting providers like IONOS give you a free email account with even their cheapest web hosting plans, whereas, with others like DreamHost, you’ll have to pay for one of the slightly more expensive plans to unlock unlimited email accounts and extra features for your domain and website.
When it comes to features, hosting with email accounts will differ between provider in terms of:
- How many email addresses with your custom domain you get (ie. [email protected])
- The size of the inboxes (1GB, 2GB etc..)
- Advanced features like email forwarding and auto responders
- Good spam filters included
Below you’ll find my pick of the best hosting with email included:
- IONOS -free email with hosting
- Hostinger – cheap, reliable hosting
- GreenGeeks – environmentally friendly hosting with email
- DreamHost – best VPS hosting with email
- Namecheap – best web & domain hosting with email
- SiteGround – free email with every plan
1. IONOS – Free Email with Hosting
IONOS offers more than just hosting. You can buy domains, SSL certificates, email hosting, and more from their website.
But when it comes to the IONOS hosting with email, you can get a shared hosting plan with professional email included for just $0.50/month (£1/month)starting price.
The shared hosting starts with 50GB storage, unlimited traffic, SSH Access, the latest PHP, MariaDB 10 or MySQL5, Free domain for a year, and DNS management.
Regarding the added email, you get one email account using Webmail 2.0 with up to 2GB storage, email forwarding, and anti-phishing and anti-spam built-in. You get the same features regardless of the shared hosting plans you sign up for.
IONOS also offers dedicated hosting from $45/month (£27/month), which provides you the same inbox size but increases the limit on the number of email accounts up to 10,000. In comparison, the VPS hosting plans start from $0.50/month (£1/month) and offer unlimited email addresses.
Where the email accounts change depending on how much you spend is with the managed WordPress hosting on a shared hosting platform:
- Essential: 1 email account
- Business: 5 email accounts
- Ultimate: 10 email accounts
IONOS is one of the cheapest web hosting providers on the market, with 99.9% uptime across all their plans, fast server load times, server-side security built in, and 24/7 support.
If you’re looking for email without hosting, the IONOS email service offers basic professional email for $0.50/month (£1/month), or you can get Microsoft Outlook email in the UK for £3.50/month or Hosted Microsoft Exchange in the US for $4/month.
Price: Starts at $0.50(£1/month) for the first 6 months
2. Hostinger – cheap, reliable hosting
Hostinger, like IONOS, offers one free email account with their most basic shared hosting plans (Single Shared Hosting) starting at $1.99/month.
You’ll get one website, 30GB SSD storage, and 100GB bandwidth with free SSL and Cloudflare-protected nameservers. You’ll also get weekly backups, 24/7 support, and a 99.9% uptime guarantee with your one free email address.
If you want more email addresses with your hosting, you can upgrade to the Premium Shared Hosting plan for $2.99/month with 100GB SSD, unlimited bandwidth, 100 websites, free domain, SSH access, and up to 100 domain-based email accounts.
If you’re looking for something more powerful and suited to small businesses, then the Hostinger Cloud Hosting plans start at $9.99/month and come with 100 free email accounts.
Unfortunately, unlike IONOS, their VPS hosting plans don’t come with free email addresses, so if you’re after more customization from your hosting but with the addition of email hosting, you’ll need to look at one of my other best hosting providers.
Dedicated email hosting is also on offer as one of the many other services Hostinger offers, along with domain search and transfer.
Hostinger business email hosting comes at $0.99/user for a 10GB storage. It comprises features like email templates, 10 email aliases, mail filters, advanced anti-spam and anti-virus checks, and works across iOS and Android.
Price: Starts from $1.99/month
3. GreenGeeks – environmentally friendly hosting with email
If you’re trying to be more eco-friendly about your hosting preferences, GreenGeeks is one of the most environmentally friendly hosting companies. They also offer up to 50 email accounts as a minimum with their shared hosting plans.
GreenGeeks will plant 1 tree no matter which type of hosting you pick, along with matching your server’s energy usage by 300% in renewable energy credits.
As for the hosting plans, the GreenGeeks Lite plan is the cheapest, with a special introductory price of $2.95/month. You get 50GB of storage space, unmetered traffic, free SSL, free nightly backups, free CDN, unlimited databases, and a free domain for a year.
You’ll also get 50 email accounts with up to 250MB storage quota as default. The limit can be increased via your account and is accessible via any device on Webmail. You’ll get a secure IMAP, POP3, and SMTP Server, with email spam protection.
The Pro and Premium plan comes with unlimited email accounts and adds extra features to the hosting, like unlimited websites, unlimited web space, on-demand backups, and faster servers.
Unfortunately, much like Hostinger, the VPS hosting plans don’t come with email accounts included, and there’s a no email hosting-only option.
Price: Starting from $2.95/month
4. DreamHost – best VPS hosting with email
DreamHost is another of the top web hosting providers offering combined web hosting and email. The only real difference between DreamHost and the ones we’ve mentioned is that you don’t get a free email account as standard with their cheapest hosting plans.
If you choose one of the Dreamhost Shared Starter or WordPress Starter plans which start from $2.95/month, you can add email to your plan for $1.67/month.
However, it’s easier on your budget if you take out one of their Unlimited plans, starting at $3.95/month. These come with the ability to create unlimited email addresses @yourdomain, plus you’ll get more perks like unlimited site storage, free SSL installed, unlimited subdomains, and unlimited MySQL Databases.
The managed WordPress hosting plans nicknamed DreamPress all come with unlimited emails, and so do the DreamHost VPS hosting plans offering you the flexibility to create enough email addresses for your business site.
Email plans come with 25GB storage per mailbox, ad-free webmail, and, thanks to IMAP, can be synced across all devices. With smart anti-spam filtering built-in, it will help keep your inbox virus and spam safe.
Even if you don’t want web hosting or your website is hosted elsewhere, you can set up DreamHost emails for $1.67/month (billed annually).
Price: Starting from $3.95/month with hosting.
5. Namecheap – best web & domain hosting with email
Namecheap might be more recognizable as one of the best domain registrars than hosting providers; however, over the years, Namecheap has grown to offer an all-around website provider.
You can buy domains, and SSL Certificates, set up CDN, increase your website security, register a business, and manage your social media with various tools, apps, and services on offer at Namecheap.
However, when it comes to cheap hosting with free email, Namecheap is up there with the best. Their Stellar shared hosting plan rocks in at £1.79/month, offering 20GB SSD, unmetered bandwidth, 100% uptime, three domains, twice weekly backups, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
With that, you’ll also get 30 email addresses to help make your business look more professional with a [email protected] style email address. You get email forwarding, email autoresponders, webmail, SMPT, POP3, IMAP, Jellyfish email filtering, and the SpamAssassin spam protection tool as standard.
Unfortunately, you don’t get free email with the Namecheap VPS hosting or with the Dedicated server hosting plans. If you want email hosting with these, you can pick from the Namecheap professional business email plans, which start at £0.75/month for a single mailbox, with each additional email address costing you an extra £0.54/month.
You’ll get a 5GB email storage allowance, 2GB file storage, and anti-spam protection. Two other email hosting options offer larger storage limits and more email accounts as standard.
If you’re after web hosting and email at an affordable price or domain hosting with email, then Namecheap is worth a look.
Price: Starting from £1.79/month with hosting.
6. SiteGround – free email with every plan
SiteGround offers many secure and fast hosting solutions for your personal website, small business website, or online store via WooCommerce.
SiteGround also offers web hosting plans with free unlimited emails as standard. The StartUp shared hosting plan from £2.39/month gives you 10GB storage, unmetered traffic, free SSL, daily backups, free CDN, built-in web caching, and a 100% renewable energy match.
When it comes to your free emails, you can create as many email addresses as you like, set up email forwarders and autoresponders, and send and receive emails using the webmail app. With SMTP, POP3, and IMAP email protocols supported, you’ll never miss an email, no matter which device you use.
Free unlimited email hosting is part of every one of their hosting plans, including shared hosting, WordPress hosting, WooCommerce hosting, and Reseller hosting. The Cloud hosting is the only one I can see that doesn’t include email.
With 24/7 customer support, superfast web hosting built on Google Cloud infrastructure, built-in security features, and an easy-to-use client area to manage all your hosting, domains, and billing, SiteGround is for those looking for fast hosting with free emails that you can rely on.
Price: Starting from £2.95/month with hosting.
Which website hosting with email is best?
Which you choose will boil down to what you’re looking for in a host and what you need from your email hosting.
The cheap shared hosting plans you find at Namecheap and IONOS are great for small or personal websites or small startup businesses looking to get set up quickly with the ability to scale up later.
VPS hosting is for small and large businesses with the knowledge to set up and configure servers to their needs. VPS servers are more work to manage than shared or managed hosting plans, but you get added performance and flexibility benefits. The best for this is DreamHost, with their VPS hosting and email starting at around $10/month.
For those looking to start a blog or are blogging with WordPress, then picking one of the managed WordPress hosting plans is a good option as these servers are typically configured to optimize the speed and performance of your WordPress install. For this, then, SiteGround or Hostinger are affordable and reliable solutions.
Pick from the best hosting providers and take advantage of the many money-back guarantees on offer to test out and narrow down the one that suits your hosting and email needs in your budget.
